Screening of the film Chola was held at NFDC Film Bazaar during the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. Present among other celebrities, Atul Garg, the writer, producer and director of the film ‘Chola’ along with the lead cast of his film that is slated to release very soon in cinema halls across India and worldwide.
Speaking exclusively to Paresh B. Mehta, Editor of Filmytown.com, Atul Garg explains the significance of the film’s title, “Chola is the attire on us and then the other interpretation is even our human body, but the deeper meaning is it refers to a person’s heart and soul. In Sanatan Dharma it is said that a person is the soul and the human body is the ‘Chola’ or the attire. The film is the journey of a woman from the western world who comes to India to study and seek Spiritual knowledge. There are genuine Godmen and quite a few frauds, and my film depicts the truth of life. Chola is the story of collective wisdom of the World.

Atul Garg is known for his previous films ‘Guddu’, ‘Amrapali’, ‘All you need is Love’ and then the widely popular Television Serial ‘Bharat Ek Darshan’. “My films is the result of extensive research of the human mind, body, soul and the relationship between the Guru and his disciple and the quest for spirituality and the immortal Strength of truth,” says Atul Garg
“The story has been derived from our Hindu Dharamshastras (Epics like the Bhagwad Gita) and religious literature. The subject of my film have been derived after validation from Spiritual Gurus. Though conflicting at times and I realised during the making of this film that there are some tenets and principles that are Sanatan and Shaswat (perpetual). We are seeking the truth and the film portrays the truth about life,” he added.
Speaking about his experience during the making, he narrates, “There were moments of inner conflicts during the making of the film and every person goes through such experiences in his life. As regards the commercial viability, I have never bothered about it, however I have full faith in the collective wisdom of the world which always leads to the truth.”
“A person can make erroneous decision or tread the wrong path, however the wisdom of a large number of people would always show the truth and reality of life. Timeless subjects are always remembered and over ages. And no one can defy the ever lasting truth.
When asked that he has exposed some fraud Godmen in the film; is he afraid of any threat from such individuals. Fake men and lies do not last for long. “My film is about how to address the inner conflicts running in the human minds. What is the aim of life. In what way can a person aim to seek truth of life. There is always a reason for why a person is born. I have projected the right and wrong ones. I am not afraid.”
Will the youth relate to the film’s subject? “Sanatan tattvas are always ever lasting. My film is a torch of light for leading a blessed life. The subject is universally accepted,” Garg concludes.
